From the 10th of February to the 22nd of May, 2011, the Palazzo Reale in Milan will host the first exhibition dedicated entirely to Giuseppe Arcimboldo, a 16th-century painter from Milan noted throughout Europe for his originality.

Famous for his unmistakable and imaginative portraits in which human faces are formed from elaborate compositions of fruit, vegetables, fish and flowers, and for the grotesque figures in his “ridiculous paintings” series, Arcimboldo is considered today as one of the most important and innovative artists of the Renaissance.

The city of Milan has dedicated an exhibition to him that includes works from throughout Italy and from Vienna, Madrid and Paris. An event without precedence, since there has never been a monumental exhibition on Arcimboldo, this exhibition offers a complete look into this important artist presented within the cultural context in which he worked.
