Sport in the snow of the Dolomites
Set over 1000m high and encircled by the Dolomite Mountains of Brenta and walls of crystal ice at Adamello and Presanella, Madonna di Campiglio is a small town with only 700 inhabitants. In spite of its small population, this Trentino village is home to the highest concentration of ski resorts in all north Italy.
Madonna di Campiglio is at the avant garde of everything to do with winter sport. Skiers and snowboarding fans will find the best slopes for swashbuckling descent in this area, ever refreshed by repeated snowfalls.
With lifts as high as 2600m there are runs for every level of expertise and personal challenges abound, always to be taken with caution. Alpine ski enthusiasts can witness in the flesh where the world's top skiers complete in slalom championships.
Tourist facilities at Madonna di Campiglio are adapted to every season. Cyclists who enjoy high altitude rides can enjoy many exploratory itineraries amidst the Dolomites valleys and pathways. Streams of clear water and plush fields as far as the eye can see frame summer holidays set in the environs of this renowned location.
Madonna di Campiglio's prestige climbed yet another rung when Italy's celebrated soccer team, Juventus, recently chose the village as the location of their season break pre competition. It's not been unusual to bump into Alex del Piero or other Juve players on holiday while strolling the few streets of this small town.
Local restaurants and venues offer cocktail, aperitif and gala evenings and just like a good chef, Madonna di Capiglio knows exactly what dish to suggest for the taste of every visitor.
