Julianne Davidow
Julianne Davidow is a writer and photographer with a love for Italy and the Renaissance.
Originally from New York City, she's currently living in Venice, where she is completing an historical novel and a photography book about the art and culture of the Italian Renaissance. She writes on art, culture, travel, history, and spirituality.
Julianne's website is www.juliannedavidow.com and her travel blog is http://matadortravel.com/travel-community/julianne.
A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Julianne first came to Italy in 1990 and subsequently lived in Rome during 1991and 1992.
In 2000, after attending a conference in Florence on the esoteric tradition of the Italian Renaissance, she began to study the works of such great Italian Renaissance writers as Marsilio Ficino, Pico della Mirandola, Giordano Bruno, Moderata Fonte, and Veronica Franco, which inspired her current book projects.
Writing Experience
Her writing has appeared in various online travel sites, in American publications such as L.A. Weekly, Angels on Earth, and Rosebud Magazine, and in HobbyNatura (Italy), and Watercraft (United Kingdom). Her photographs have been published in TimeOut New York, The Jewish Daily Forward, Angels on Earth, and Hobby Natura. They have also appeared in exhibitions in London and New York.
Julianne is inspired by the Neoplatonists of the Italian Renaissance, finding them to be'spiritual ancestors' in the syncretic approach to religion, and in their appreciation of the natural world and artistic creation. She hopes her work will help to maintain a connection with the art and wisdom of the past.
